Frequently Asked Questions
Here’s where we’ll try and answer some of your questions you may have about Print My Ride and what we do. If your answer is not here please do use the Contact Us form.
What are your prints made from?
Our prints are 3D printed in the UK using PLA (Polylactic Acid) which is the most widely used plastic filament material for this application.
How long do the prints take to produce?
On average a print may take around 6 or 7 hours to produce once it has been designed. The design phase may differ in duration depending on how much personalisation has been required.
Are the prints durable?
The prints are made in one piece using automated filament switching with the print produced in one go, so there is no gluing. The prints are therefore sturdy, but the nature of the profile means it is fairly thin, so the prints should be handled with care. They should ideally be displayed out of direct sunlight to avoid any Dali-esque results…
Do you have a refund policy?
Due to the personalised nature of our products, we only offer a refund or exchange if the item has been damaged in transit. This does not affect your statutory rights.
How do I get my ride data to you for a personalised print?
The simplest way is by sending us the URL of an activity off a website like Strava. We can usually download the gpx file directly. Use the Contact Us form to send this to us. If you don’t use Strava, you can use the Contact Us form to initiate the dialogue, and then send us the gpx file (from your bike computer) over email.
How does the banding work?
The more detail, the more design work, the more colours, the longer the print. It’s as simple as that. So, if you keep it very simple (ie. Band A) then we have two colours and likely to be very little text. Add more colours or even a logo, and it will push you up the banding price scale.
Is buying through Print My Ride safe?
We use Square for our transactions, which is a secure e-commerce solution. Square has over 4 million merchant clients around the world.
Why do you require payment up front?
As with most purchases, we do need payment up front, which includes before the design phase if you have something bespoke in mind.
What if I decide I want to have a product in a higher band after I’ve paid for it
Take a look at the different examples of the banded products in the Ride Profiles section to try and make sure you choose what you want from the off. If you did find you needed to increase the detail in your print, we may need to request an additional payment to cover the upgrade.
How long have you been going?
Not long! We produced and sold our first multi-colour ride print back in May 2024 and, realising there was interest, have been working on this website and some exciting commercial partners in the meantime.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, there are postage options for the UK, rest of Europe and rest of the world. UK orders are generally shipped by Royal Mail Second Class or Evri Standard, if you need it quicker, see below!
How long will it take to come?
Hopefully not long! The more complex and personalised, the longer, obviously, but we’d hope that you’d get your print(s) within 14 days. We’re a small outfit though, so if things are getting busy, it may take a little longer. We’ll let you know if it’s getting tight!
OK, but I need it quicker, can you bump me?
We offer a “UK Expedited” shipping option at extra cost. The prints still take a little while to design, produce and print but if you are in a pants-on-fire hurry, selecting this option will move you as close to the top of the queue as we can, and your print will be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery, so you should get it next working day once it’s been printed and boxed. It could still take a few days, however. If in doubt, drop us an email, we’ll try and work something out.
Are you cyclists?
Yep! That’s how we got the idea 😉
